Allentown Cosmetic & Restorative Dental Care: CEREC Same-Day Crowns

CEREC®, or Chairside Economical Restorations of Esthetic Ceramics, has expedited the creation of dental restorations. Traditionally, creating crowns, onlays, inlays, or veneers required multiple procedures, with waiting time in-between each appointment. This technology is composed of several computer-assisted design tools and a milling machine to create custom restorations. CEREC® provides finished prosthetics within only a few hours. Patients in need of treatment can have restorations completed in single visit to our Allentown practice.

The Benefits of CEREC

CEREC® prosthetics are proven to last for over five years, with recent studies indicating durability for more than 10 years. With this treatment planning and fabrication system, patients benefit from the following:

·         Faster treatment

·         Fewer dental visits

·         Minimally invasive procedures

·         Preservation of natural tooth structure

At Fairmont Dental Associates, we provide quality, lasting cosmetic restorations that enhance the aesthetics of your smile with CEREC dentistry.

What are the Components of the CEREC System?

CEREC® uses CAD-CAM, computer assisted design and computer assisted milling, in three major components:

Scanning and Imaging: Using a high-quality camera and a medical grade computer, the device photographs the prepared tooth, creating a three-dimensional representation. With these detailed images, a customized ceramic restoration is designed.

Designing your Restoration in 3D: CEREC software allows us to examine the tooth from every angle. This 3D model of your tooth provides the next best thing to holding the tooth in our hands.

Fabricating the Prosthetic: The milling unit manufactures custom restorations based on specifications from the imaging software. The milling device produces the custom restoration within minutes, using a block of ceramic which matches your natural tooth color.

What Happens During CEREC Procedures?

After preparing the tooth for the restoration, is then then coasting with a special contrasting agent and photos are taken using CEREC imaging. These images are then transposed onto the computer screen where {dentist name} views the tooth from every angle to design the final restoration.

Once the custom design is complete, it will be transmitted to the milling unit. After placing a block of ceramic into the milling unit, your full restoration is fabricated. When perfect fit is established, the restoration is polished and bonded to the tooth with dental cement.
